Let’s face it – not all of us are born with beautiful skin, hair or nails. And while we can try to cover up issues with make up or nail polish, that only goes so far. Biotin is vitamin H, and one of the B complex vitamins that actually assists your body in turning food into useable energy. While some people get enough biotin from a regular, healthy diet, this isn’t the case for everyone.

The National Academy of Science’s Institute of Medicine recommends getting 30 micrograms for both females and males over the age of 19. However, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, that number gets bumped up to 30 milligrams and 35 milligrams.

Whether you decide to get biotin through supplementation or through your diet, you will find it has quite a few benefits that come along with it. The longer you take it, the clearer and brighter you will find your skin gets. Your nails will grow longer and stronger, making them less likely to break. And your hair will get thicker and stronger, preventing it from breaking or getting weak.

Like we said earlier, you can either supplement it with a vitamin or incorporate it into your diet. Many people turn to supplementing with a vitamin because they aren’t willing to each 3 ounces of liver on a regular basis, or 7 grams of yeast.
