The scientist also added present hair treatment by using the back hair of the head and planting them in the frontal areas experiencing hair loss. It failed to increase the total number of hair follicles or hair. and yes, few other treatments succeed in slowing down the hair loss process.

The professor said that this new technology might need another 10 long years (!) before it’s available for people who are dreaming of getting rid of polished plates and thinning thatches.

This protein acts as a negative regulator on the Wnt/β-catenin pathway (controls the activity of embryonic and adult stem cell populations) that is linked to hair regeneration and the scalp’s wound-healing that might lead to developing new follicles.

When this protein binds with Dishevelled (Dvl), another kind of protein, it restricts hair follicles in developing. The team created a biomaterial, PTD-DBM, to interfere with the binding process. When this biomaterial is applied for 28 days to the bare skin of bald mice, new follicles develop.

The team achieved a stronger result when they combined wound-induced hair neogenesis with PTD-PBM and valproic acid. It was used topically to activate the Wnt/β-catenin pathway.

Actually, the process works in three ways.

First — the wound stimulates the follicles generation,

Second — valproic acid induces the cell pathway (linked to the development of follicles) 

And Third — PTD-PBD inhibits or prevents CXXC5 from interfering with the follicular development process.

So this treatment procedure has yet to pass human safety regulations as it still hasn’t been clinically tested to determine its safety issues.
